I have noticed a couple of things about the Mount Volume addition that
require solving if I am going to use it in a multiple user environment...
1) When attempts to connect via AS throw error -1070 the error propagates to
subsequent connection attempts that should not throw that error, even when
all the parameters are correct. Only restarting the client machine seems to
clear it. Does anyone one have an explanation (or fix) for this? It's not
too critical because I can validate for the conditions that would cause this
error before any attempt to connect is made - but I am curious...
2) The Mount Volume addition seems to disregard the user name and password
parameters if a connection is made to an already connected server. So if
user 1 mounts a volume and then walks away, and user 2 attempts to mount
another volume, it is mounted as belonging to user 1. (This surprised me - I
was testing my script under varying 'real world' conditions and I expected
this scenario to throw an error.)
I certainly don't want this to happen. Does anyone know if one can extract
the user information of an existing connection to an afp server? Or some
other way of ensuring that a second user cannot inadvertently use the
privileges of an already existing user? (Automatically unmounting all
existing volumes is not an option, as most times those connections
legitimately belong to the user attempting a new connection - who may have
files/processes open on them.)
