Michael,
I hate to quell your enthusiasm ... ;-)
... but I forgot to tell you that an Automatic page number returns
'ASCII number 4' and not the code of the visible number.
This is true for 'Previous page' (type Cmd-2), 'Current page' (type Cmd-3),
and 'Next page' (type Cmd-4).
Now, it won't happen frequently that these characters will be in the
selection when you test it for anchored boxes. But when it happens then
the script will count an anchored box which is not there.
'Previous page' and 'Next page' can be typed in a seperate box (but it
must be positioned before the linked box) -- or directly in the story.
Try it: make a document with three pages. Create a text box on each
page, link the boxes and fill them with text. Then go to page 3, create
another box, place it that it touches the linked box and type cmd-2
in the new box. It should show the page number of the previous page.
If you move the box so that it doesn't touch the linked box anymore
then the contents will be: <None>.
So, the best bet is still to create a new document, copy the selection
in a new box, count the boxes and subtract 1.
Regards,
Hans
