I have also seen this on Mac OS 9.1 systems (and possibly 9.0.4 as well); I
will try to check on what versions of the OS and CarbonLib and AppleScript
have it, and what Macs display it (in case that's somehow related).

I have also had the crashing problem within Script Editor whenever I go to
record, and did not trace it back to CarbonLib. I'm fairly certain I started
seeing that with OS 9.0.4, and I regularly do Software Update scans, so it's
quite possible it started happening to me with an AppleScript and/or
CarbonLib update.

I don't recall seeing problems with the copy/paste keyboard commands,
though. Hm.
