But Smile will open the AppleScript extension's "Dictionary" -- navigate to
the Extensions folder and open AppleScript with the Open Dictionary menu
item -- which gives you the same thing as English Dialect did in OS 8.6, but
up-to-date. (We have been cautioned by some people here not to call it the
AppleScript Dictionary, so I call it the AppleScript "Dictionary" or
sometimes the non-Dictionary. basically, it's the AppleScript Dictionary,
the same as what you've been seeing in the English Dialect pre-OS 9.0. AS no
longer uses the Dialects folder -- it's just sitting there doing nothing,
and somewhat out-of-date if you have OS 9.0.x or 9.1.

AppleScript got rid of dialects other than English a long time ago, because
they didn't work well. So there's no (recent) loss.
