opening applescript crashes computer

Suddenly, whenever I open an existing script on my computer, it crashes hard. I have to put the reset button.

I have a G4 running Mac OS 9.1 and AppleScript 1.6.

I tried starting with "Mac OS 9.1 All", but the problem still occurred.
