Applescript CGIs with Web* V

Cross posted to W* Dev and AS-users as this seems to apply the both. Sorry if
bad netiquette.

Now that I finally have usable release versions of MacOSX, TB2, and W*V, I'm
testing Applescript CGIs (AE CGI, .acgi), and there is a problem.

If the CGI app is already running, the test script works as expected (aside
from client_address returning the IP of the server and not the client).
However, if the CGI app is not running, it will not be triggered to run by
clicking the submit button. I don't just mean the handle CGI request handler
is not executed; I mean the applet itself never runs at all.

This is different from, and far more troublesome than, the known CGI startup
bug in Applescript 1.6 for MacOS 9.1 (which was supposed to be fixed in AS
1.7 - did it get broken worse?).

The applet is saved as stay open, and does stay open when run from the OSX
Finder.

I don't know if this is a W*V problem, a permissions problem, an OSX problem,
or an Applescript/applet shell problem, but it demands fixing. Is there a
solution? Am I the only one using Applescript CGIs, or just the only one
having trouble?
