Scripting TE+ under OS 10.1: unwanted launch of Classic

  • Subject: Scripting TE+ under OS 10.1: unwanted launch of Classic

Hello all

On one boot partition I have OS10.1 and Classic (9.2.1). On the other I have a standard 9.2.1 install.

On the first partition I have the Carbonised version of Tex-Edit Plus. On the second version I have an older, non-carbonised version of TE+.

I boot into OS10.1. I launch the carbonised copy of TE+. Using Script Editor, I compile and run the following:

tell application "Tex-Edit Plus" to activate

This launches Classic, and then the non-Carbonised version of TE+. No "Where is Tex-Edit Plus?", and any further commands to TE+ link to the older version.

The only way I can script the newer Tex-Edit Plus seems to be to use Smile's cunning "Tell" command, which sees an application called "Tex-Edit Plus.carbon". This compiles to "Tex-Edit Plus", but any script created and saved in this way will link to the Carbonised version of TE+. (The fact that I can't get Smile to open the script again once it's been saved is another matter altogether.)

But the only way I can script TE+.carbon directly using Script Editor seems to be to unmount the 9.2.1 partition containing the older version of the app.

Does anyone know why?

Many thanks,

Hugh
