Backing up the recent items folder....

  • Subject: Backing up the recent items folder....

I am trying to create a simple script (at least I think it's simple) that
essentially:

Open folder Recent Documents
Find items "X-X" (source of one of my problems...)
copy items "X-X" to Folder Today on Drive A (one of the other problems)

Obviously this is over simplified, but I don't understand why it would be so
hard to create a simple back up script using the recent documents folder and
either a common disk on a network. We are a medium sized company that has
relied on DAT tape backup in the past and I personally really hate it. I am
trying to make a case for Daily CDRW backup as another level of security
with the alterior motive of eventually changing the whole darn system over
to some sort of CD or DVD back-up...

Yes, we have Retrospect and we could run a script from there that
essentially does this but then why stop the DAT tape thing... My problem
with the DAT tape has been unreliable Tape Drives and losing sets only to
find that the tape "can't rewrite said set"....

Any help would be very much appreciated!
