I think the applescript "applet shell" must be what you've been told is
68K code.

If that's true.. I don't think there's any way short of writing (in C++)
your own "applet shell", and of course you'll need some way to get your
applescript into the new shell.

Maybe Nebel or Pugh or Knapp can say more or the feasibility of this...
