Jon> I would also like to apologize to any Muslims caught up in the revenge
(talk *or* actions) being bandied about.
Well put Jon, I wouldn't change a word.

Rachel > Well said, I agree with all this, but can I correct you on one fine
point? "Muslims" are the Black Africans who have their own interpretation of
Islam. "Moslems" are the Arabs whose faith is Islam
I don't believe this is a valid correction. First, my Islamic friends refer
to themselves as "Mulsim". In my dictionary the definition for Moslem is
"Muslim" and "Islam" is defined as the religious faith of Muslims.
And, it's important to note that Moslem, Muslim and Islam are not synomynous
with fanatic.

>Peter B.>>In the end, I fear that Walt Kelly's words (paraphrased) are too
true: "The enemy is us."
The full quote: "We have met the enemy and 'they' is us."
This famous quote from Walt Kelly is often misused, misunderstood or
paraphrased in ways that that completely alter its original meaning or
intent.
Walt Kelly wrote a comic strip called PoGo. That name, not coincidentally,
is the abbreviation used by a number of colleges for their Politics and
Government departments. The " 'they' is us" quote derives it's impact from
the political democratic context of people complaining about the "system":
'they' should build more freeways; or 'they' should make the buses run on
time.
Kelly was recognizing that in a democracy the power 'they' have is the power
of the people. The people are "they" and "they" is us.
It applys to current events when we say "they" should have better airport
security; or "they" should do more to stop terrorism. In those cases "they"
is us.
It does not apply when referring to terrorists, as in "they" shouldn't kill
innocent people. This is true, but in this case "They" is not us.

Anyway, to bring this all back to scripting I was asked today how long it
would take to write a script that will read the IPTC headers from about
5,000 pictures, scale them to fit a particular size and place them on a page
with with formatted captions for web and print.
It's such a trivial thing for AppleScript.
