GraphicConverter is one easy way to go.. easily scriptable.. and will allow
you to open image files... get pixel dimensions and read/embed file info
(IPTC text)

Hi,
I was wondering if someone has ever tackled trying to parse a JPEG
file using AppleScript. I would like to get the file's pixel dimension
and resolution. I have written a rudimentary script that parses TIFF
files generated from Photoshop for image type (bitmap, grayscale, RGB,
or CMYK). Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
