does
anyone know or have a favorite Shell scripting reference that would relate
closely to OS X shell?
What about the built in reference via the "man" command.
i've found the utility ManOpen quite handy for browsing
man pages:

but to get started shell scripting you need a good generic
intro, which will include a roundup of basic Unix "tools"
which are separate programs from the shell. then there are
a few special tools in Mac OS X (like open, osascript,
CpMac, etc.) that so far are very poorly documented. some
have man pages, but i don't know of any consolidated
reference that lists them all (as kind of a "diff" from
standard Unix).
