Network scripting in 9.1 vs 8.6

Man, I'm just full o questions today.

Thanks in no small part to this group, I've got my VPN dialer working
creating tcpip and remote access configs, saving the user's current
settings, switching to the new ones and dialing a modem. All from Director
in OS 9.1

According to Applescript in a Nutshell, this should be able to work in 9 but
I don't the "lower limit" of the os that will support this. My current
tests using os 8.6 just fail trying to get the currently active tcpip v4 and
remote access configurations.

I'm wondering if this is just because what I am trying to do can not work in
OS 8.x or if it's just my bad code.

Ideally, I'd like to make this work for more than one major release of the
OS.

Thanks, Zav
