Fair point. I'm very concerned that I get this right: I avoided the obvious
UK/US gotchas (pound/euro signs) but am not sure if there's others, and
even less sure if there's issues with other countries. I kinda like
keyboard combos as I gotta fess up that I can't remember half the names for
all these special characters: it's the 'zero thought required' approach.
OTOH, if these codes are going to break for non-UK/US keyboards then this
method is going to fail.

Hum. No, I think it's important to avoid this kind of thing: the whole
point of the script is to avoid giving the user extra work, else folks
aren't going to want to use it. Like Bill says, this idea has been tried
before and bombed. If it ain't easier to use the script than not use it, it
kinda defeats the point of it.:/
If anyone's got a non-UK keyboard and wants to check to see if these codes
don't match up for them, I guess you'd best speak now or forever hold your
silence.:)
Or how about putting it to the vote: those who'd be happy with keyboard
combos (easier to do) versus those who'd rather see character names
(definitely robust).
Over to you folks....
