I am afraid I could only think of a kludge on this one because
ResEdit isn't applescriptable AFAIK.
I would use PreFab Player to drive the ResEdit menus and
interface to perform the functions you are currently doing by
hand.
Unless you want make it automatically loop through a series
of apps; you can make it into a OSA Menu item in the
"ResEdit Scripts Folder" in order to call it from a keystroke.
There are also several icon editors that are on Version Tracker
Macintosh Software Updates - VersionTracker.com
that may be scriptable but I haven't tried any of them:
clip2icns 1.5.1
CP_IconEdit 2.5
File Pirate 3.1.1
Finder Icon CMM 2.41
iClick 1.0b3
Icon Archiver 4.0
Icon Machine 3.0b16
Icon Mania 1.0.3
Icon Tools 1.6
IconDropper 3.2.2
IconLib 2.0
Iconographer 2.3
IconSwapper 1.2.1
iControl 1.2.1
IconViewer 1.0
ResEdit Icon Patch 1.1
