I have another project that I'm scripting and I realized after I started that
either (a) I have to take the customer back to OS 8.6 (and A.S. 1.3? Might
mean time to return new CPU's) or find a different word processor to support
what I'm doing at their site.
Scenario: Documents get created in two languages (combined in a single
document). Customer is currently using MacWritePro (version 1.5v3) because it
supports language definition as a part of the style (i.e. - just as you can
highlight text and make it bold, you can also make it "German" or "French" or
"English", etc). When the spelling checker or thesaurus is invoked, it
recognizes each part as whatever language it is and uses the appropriate
language's dictionary. The script automatically generates text passages to go
into the letter, but portions of it are entered by the user depending on
circumstance.
The client's operation is growing and they just got new G4's for three new
people on staff to do more of this type of work. It dawned on me as I sat
down to work on the project that MacWrite Pro won't work under OS 9.2.x
because of incompatibilities with the save dialog box calls on save vs. the
O/S's filing system.
Question: Does anyone know of either:
(A) a patch that makes this software support O/S 9.2.x's filing system, OR
(B) any other word processor on the market that supports this type of simple
multi-language text definition?
Thanks in Advance
=-= Marc
