Script for Chinese in Appleworks

I am new to MAC and have just started using the Appleworks because it has Traditional Chinese ideogram capability which I need for the paper I am writing. It is however a very trying process. First I have to alter the language from English to Chinese (the Pencil icon). Then I have to open the Font Menu and search for the location of the BiauKai font. This is very troublesome since frequently another language bursts in. I then start writing in Pin-Yin and the ideograms appear. I chose the correct one by selecting the corresponding number and the Enter and the ideogram appears in the text. If I then want to continue in my basic language (Brazilian Portuguese) I have to invert the procedure.
It appeared to me that if I had a Script in the form of 2 buttons, one going each way, the whole process could be substantially simplified. I tried writing a Script but my knowledge of Appleworks and Applescript is very incipient.
I would be very grateful if someone could help.
Thanking you in advance for your kind attention, I remain
Yours sincerely
