My point is simply this: AS does not seem to getting sufficient priority
when it comes to basic features. When one tries to use AS in the X
enviroment one is forced to use slower methods, workarounds or 3rd party
options to accomplish what is readily done in OS 9.
that's an interesting perspective, Thomas. i think some of
your specifics weren't AppleScript, or even Apple, issues.
but i can i accept that somehow the AppleScript experience
is worse for *you* on X.
on the other hand, many of us have found AS wonderfully
expanded with the many new options of the shell and
AppleScript Studio, as well as the speed and reduced
likeliness that script errors will crash the whole system
(as they often did on 9 for me). there are also some brand
new apps (OmniOutliner, just for example) that have
excellent scripting implementations. this is all before we
get started on things like XML-RPC, the Script Menu ...
so if it comes down to Apple's priorities, i don't know whether i'm
in a majority, but i'm quite happy with AppleScript on X.
