I don't know the slightest bit about QuarkXPress, but here we address a
similar problem the following way (our problem is not about barcodes at
all):
- all the barcodes are in one folder, say "Barcodes"
- "Barcodes" contains some barcodes, and also an arbitrary number of
folders containing barcodes, and which are supposed to classify them, with
possibly a hierarchical structure. Actually the barcodes are handled by
different people, and not two users have the exactly same philosophy about
classifying barcodes (a NP-complete problem, as proven recently :).
- the thing which makes it all work is another folder named "Aliases",
which contains (at its first level) the aliases to all barcode. The aliases
are handled automatically, no user has to really see them in Finder. So,
the folder "Aliases" remains clean and tidy.
