65,000 files per volume is/was a limitation of the HFS (aka "Mac OS")
disk format. HFS Plus (aka "Mac OS Extended") has no such limit.
(Well, actually it does, but it's on the order of billions of files.
Odds are you'll run out of disk space first.)
