It's checking my mail every 15 minutes and running the applet that tells me
about it. There are plenty of times when I need to tune out from the
fascinating discussions unfolding in this and other lists so that I can get
some actual work done.
And therein lay the solution to my problem. I always fire up Entourage
manually, so the 'mail announcement' is not required at that time. I split
the send & receive schedule into two parts - one that runs at startup and
one that runs to a repeating schedule - and removed the 'run script' action
from the startup version. Simple.
