If you don't specify http, it will connect via AFP, rather than webdav. If you mount your own iDisk by using the 'iDisk' item in the Go menu or mount someone's Public folder from a web browser, it will always use webdav, which is what goliath uses.

i had been using Go/iDisk in Finder, thus webdav. not sure
if you're suggesting that should be faster or slower than
AFP ...
