Interesting observation in OS X scripts menu

  • Subject: Interesting observation in OS X scripts menu

OK, maybe only interesting if you're as dumb as me.

Being used as I was to OS9, where one usually thinks of apps running faster than scripts, when I put in the OS X scripts menu, I added some items in there which were saved as applications, rather than scripts. They were quite small (email checking, web pages) which made it a bored when they would then start, meaning a Dock icon would appear and all that.

For some reason I wondered if they would run faster as a script. Poom! So they do. So now I've resaved all those apps as scripts, and they whizz along. And no more annoying Dock icon waits either while they get scheduled, iconized, bounce a few times, and join the party.

Learn from my errors..

Charles
