Hi,
From the list it looks like you have answered your own question;
M|nchen = M<u-umlaut>nchen
The replaced character "|" (pipe) has a special meaning...
see earlier posts
I don't know what gets done to my emails by the list software (or maybe it'
s Mail.app), but apparently the u-umlaut turns into a pipe-character on
the mailing-list. This is NOT the actual problem. Please substitute the
pipe-character (or any other weird character that might appear in my email
as the second character in the word "Munchen" with an u-umlaut when trying
to reproduce my problem ... thanks ;-)
In the meantime, several people have emailed me privately about having the
same problems, so it looks as if this is really a problem (and not just me
being stupid ... would have liked that and a simple solution better *g*).
Here's another (tiny) script that also won't work with umlauts:
1. Open TextEdit
2. Type in some text containing umlauts
3. Run the following script:
set the clipboard to the text of the front document of application
"TextEdit" as international text
As you will see, the text in the clipboard gets truncated at the first
umlaut :-(
If you do know of any way to get text with umlauts out of an application
using AppleScript (without being truncated) ... or if you have a script
that will get text including umlauts from an application, please tell me .
..
Thanks for helping ...
Christina
