You're doomed. ;)

What are the proper installation steps?
It depends on your OS version. Since you are a novice, I presume you are running 8 or 9. You put Jon's Commands into the Scripting Additions folder in your System Folder in this case. The X version of Jon's Commands is not yet ready for novices.

How does Jon's commands interface with the script?
The script presumably calls Jon's Commands functions, which are only defined once you've installed Jon's Commands correctly.

How do I aim the script at the target folder?
It depends on how the script is written, but you didn't include that info so I don't know, but drag and drop onto the script application would be the best way. Otherwise it might just ask for a folder when run.

How do I run the script?
Once again, this depends on how you received it. If you got text in an email, you need to run the Script Editor and paste the script into a window there. Then you can press the run button. Or you can save the script as a script application and run it from the Finder. If it has an "on open()" handler then it is a "droplet" and you can drag folders/files to it to run it on those folders/files.
Flexibility involves ambiguity.
