GUI Scripting of Mail Preferences

I'm trying to script the selection of certain preferences in Mail, but am unable to identify the GUI elements in the Preferences window. The Probe Window.Applescript same seemed unable to do it either. The selection items in the top pane of the Preferences window don't appear to be buttons. Does anyone have any idea how the interface items in this window can be scripted?
