Store script as read-only?

I've found that storing a script into a script file that was saved
as read-only replaces the existing script but the resulting script is
NOT read-only. Does anyone know if it's possible to store a script as
read-only?
And does anyone know if any of the resource editing tricks can be
applied to OS X scripts? I have no idea where these things get their
resources from now. I assume that they are stored inextricably within
the script file itself...
A blank script saved to file as text is 330 bytes.
A blank script saved to file as script is 452 bytes.
A blank script saved to file as app is 52177 bytes.
A blank script saved to file as R-O app is 52157 bytes.
Anyone know how we can do custom dialog icons etc. in X?
AStudio suggestions aside. I know what I can do there. I'm wondering
what I can do in vanilla AS.
