Initializing?
Initializing?

The problem:
I am trying to run an applet on startup via Startup Items. "On run" just
sets a global flag, and "on idle" is where the real work happens.
Unfortunately, though the script runs just fine via Script Editor, using
it via Startup Items causes consistent failure with the following error,
(even after the machine has been up and running for over 30
post-applet-run seconds):
-1708
errAEEventNotHandled
<<script>> doesn't understand the event <<netwRMst>> message.
The potential solution:
A few days back I think someone posted a means of "starting-up" additions
(which I can't find in the archives or in my old email now that I need
it). I think this may be relevant b/c after I run this same exact script
in Script Editor, it then works fine on its own, so it seems like some
sort of start-up/timing/additions issue.
I am depending on the RA PPP Status (Mac OS 9.1) addition.
The problem with the potential solution:
Assuming it works, it seems awfully silly. I mean, why should I have
to expressly initialize these? Why not load the additions automatically?
If I didn't want them to load, I'd keep them out of the system folder in
the first place!!!
Thanks,
-Matt
