Editing aetes

Hi there,

I'm digging into the terminology of an application whose applescript support is being extended. I'm checking some stuff, fixing a couple of incompatibilities, and trying to add plural forms for some classes. (The underlying apple event code for plurals is there, it's just the terminology that's missing).

Even though I have a good grasp of Applescript I don't really have a clue what I'm doing on the resource side. The tool I'm using is Resourcerer 1.2.4, which I am beginning to understand, but it has a ghastly user interface, and I've just got hold of a hypercard stack called 'Aete editor b3' which is REALLY old (1993), and makes no reference to Applescript whatsoever. (The docs are also corrupted so I can't read them).

So, some questions;

Are there better tools for doing this? What are they?

Is there somewhere I can look to find out more information about editing aetes?

I read somewhere that aetes were obsolete 68k resources and that they have been replaced with something else. This app is PPC only and carbonized to run on OSX too which I imagine handles resources a bit differently, am I barking up the wrong tree? Can an aete be painlessly updated to whatever is more modern? How?

Many thanks for any tips or advice on this matter.

Brennan
