Anyone working with Quark in OSX and getting good results of fonts size?

We are trying to set a font size based on current size and are getting 16
digit results when asking for the font size of a selected character set.

Does anyone know a way to insure, other that running Applescript as Classic
App?

I am also not getting 3width of char2 in our scripts with the 1.8.1 AS and
running this script as a classic Application, Errors out of the try
statement.

Any suggestions anyone?
