Well, so far , we're getting pretty good agreement on the top 5-10 anyway.
Are some of the contributors willing to consider this a sort of petition to
the AppleScript team?
Obviously, there would be certain problems adopting it: so far, AS and
Standard Additions changes have gone hand-in-hand in OS X and OS 9, or
almost. The need is strongest in OS X, where these functions don't exist at
al at present, but to implement these requests, Apple would either have to
come up with their own code and names, or else do the decent thing and buy
the additions from their current owners, as has been suggested, so that
there would be no conflict in OS 9.
Either way would involve a budget decision, which I'm sure must depend on
people and departments higher up the chain and rival claimants, in the usual
way of these things.
But it really is time for AppleScript to grow up and incorporate many of
these most basic osaxen into itself - not to mention non-osax matters like
whose filter for lists and records, which we've been told is definitely on
some horizon or other.
Here's hoping. I do hope the AppleScript team will lend a sympathetic ear
and voice.
