See the dog (tab) run quickly (tab) through the yard.
You can use QXP's delimit table, which essentially lets you redefine how it
decides what is a word. Here's a snippet:
tell application "QuarkXPress 4.11"
set oldSpace to delimit item " " of delimit table 1
set delimit item " " of delimit table 1 to can be contained in word
try
tell story 1 of current box
set style of word 2 of every paragraph to bold
end tell
end try
set delimit item " " of delimit table 1 to oldSpace
end tell
Keep in mind you will also probably need to change the delimit items of some
other characters, like hyphens and colons. And make sure you trap for any
errors; the values you set remain until you quit and restart QXP.
