nope, in illy 9, while in .ai docs it does contain the creator version

as 9.0.2, in an EPS file it shows only 9.0.

unfortunately all our illy docs are almost always saved in eps format.....
I don't have Illustrator 9.0x to test, but my guess is that Illustrator retrieves the
version number from somewhere else in the document. Otherwise Illustrator would have no
direcct way of differentiating documents created with the two versions.
Is it possible that the document format hasn't changed between 9.0 and 9.0.x, and that the
patches are only for the application reading the data? I don't have Illustrator 9 to test
with, but you could try saving a few of your more complex documents in both version 9.0 and
9.0.2 and compare their size in bytes and their textual contents (e.g. using CodeWarrior or
BBEdit's file comparrison functions). If the files are identical, then you are pretty safe
in leaving the files alone.

Perhaps an Adobe oversight/bug?
It couldn't be possible, could it? ;-)
