Giuliano,
Thanks for the info. I managed to do the 'downgrade' successfully. My
scripts now seem to work fine, even script applications compiled with AS 1.8
under OS X 10.1.2. I tried replacing the 1.6 scripting additions with the
1.7 scripting additions, but then my script app could no longer find any of
the files it should have, so perhaps the scripting additions file is where
the problems people have been experiencing with AS under OS 9.2.2 are
occuring.
Here is what I did to downgrade:
1. Obtained a copy of AppleScript 1.6.smi from the Apple Computer web site
listed below.
2. Removed 'Standard Additions' from the Scripting Additions folder of the
System Folder.
3. Removed 'AppleScript' from the Extensions folder of the System Folder.
4. Restarted computer.
5. Double clicked on the self mounting image file obtained in Step 1. This
puts a disk image called 'AppleScript Install' on the desktop.
6. Double clicked on the disk image, then double clicked on the Installer
program.
7. Made sure the boot disk was selected for installation, then clicked on
Install.
8. Rebooted. AppleScript 1.6 now installed. (Note: Script Editor 1.7 still
installed, but this appears to work fine with AppleScript 1.6.)
Regards,
Don

Since we are talking of MacOS 9 here, you can always do a clean
