It was good to hear Chris (Espinosa) come out with a public statement
reafirming Apple's support for scripting.

However, it does not do much for products such as FaceSpan, Smile, etc. who
rely on AppleScript being stable. Every time a new subversion surfaces,
it's back to a full week of testing for me to see if FaceSpan "breaks" and
if there are some workarounds. Overall, the success rate has been very
encouraging. But AppleScript v.1.7 was a disaster. For the present, we at
FaceSpan are advising that users not use AppleScript version 1.7. Until I
can finish testing 9.2.2 and can come up with a list of problems (and maybe
workarounds); the official word is that FaceSpan does not support 9.2.2.
