any concensus on best applescript book - looker for a good allrounder. ie
containing example code snippets; but also good reference for all commands
and terms.

Not sure if your new to AS (like me) or not, but I've found the "AppleScript for Dummies" to be VERY useful and simple to understand.

On first reading the little cute parts made me smile and kept me going, but using it as a reference now sometimes leaves me a little annoyed with those.

OTOH, the book has been an excellent reference when working on scripts and forgetting a bit of syntax here or there.

HTH,
Landis
