Seems like a rare item. I've only come across one in USB. Can you recommend one?

Whatever you do, don't use a mouse.

Why not? I should think that a nice optical mouse would hold up pretty well.

I think you must be talking about OS 9, eh? This eMac will use OSX. Besides, how does removing the control panel (or preference panel) prevent someone from selecting "Sleep" from the Apple menu?

By the dearth of responses, I'm guessing that no one has any idea how to get USB and AppleScript on speaking terms...
