I have lots of data in textfiles, (comma separated), or Applework spreadsheets, which I would like to move into Appleworks data files, any suggestions?

What's a "datafile"? Do you mean an AppleWorks database document? You can use the Open CSV menu command provided with the Enhancement Pack for AppleWorks:

If you want to move data from a spreadsheet into databases, you can copy and paste whole cell ranges, or save as tab delimited and open as a database, or script cell by cell. Any of these approaches can be automated for a batch, such as using the Batch Convert script:
