Moving data into Appleworks or?

The last time I asked a question the help was great so thanks and here is another.
I have lots of data in textfiles, (comma separated), or Applework spreadsheets, which I would like to move into Appleworks data files, any suggestions?
My alternate idea could I use Applescript and build a nice front end set of forms and forget appleworks. Comments ideas?
