I've been following all the discussions about shell scripting

We are starting to roll out a VPN here and the Cisco VPN client
requires
typing in several commands in the Terminal. First the user has
to "su" to
become root. Then they have to change directories and run the
command to
install the client.
Is any/all or this possible using AppleScript or am I wasting
my time trying
to figure it out. I don't have a Unix background so my
knowledge of the
output from these types of commands is limited at best. I have
done several
AppleScript apps and run about 7 or 8 scripts on my lab
machines so I am
familiar with AS. It sure would be nice to be able to give our users an
AppleScript installer that would keep them out of the terminal.
If your clients have OS X, check out the PackageMaker
application (available with the Developer Tools install). Follow
the instructions given by choosing its help menu item. Fairly
straight forward if your intstallation is simple. It will
present a password dialog to the user instead of having to use
Terminal.
