Hi Sven,
Others here have reported that you the files are HTML. I'm not sure whether
there's a simpler way to get at them, but installing them in OS 9, then
fishing them out of the Help folder in System Folder, and viewing them in a
browser like IE in OS X (or maybe even putting them in some Help folder in
X?) should do it. Maybe you can even get at them from the installer without
installing them in OS 9 - I'm not sure.
Another place to find equivalent information is in the O'Reilly book
"AppleScript in a Nutshell" (not online, not free. amazon.com is one place
to find it.) Some of the earlier, simple modules cover the same ground as is
found in lots of different locations, but a few of the later ones -
particularly file sharing and program linking - are more complex issues that
are not covered by older books (such as Danny Goodman's AppleScript
Handbook, which is excellent on basic AppleScript). Most of it still applies
in OS X, but a few things have changed, The O'Reilly's book is the only
almost-up-to-date source. Even more up to date is
<
http://www.applescriptsourcebook.com> . And then come back and ask this
list.
