I am trying to lear more as well, and would benefit from information
about AS in OS X (and interface builder's show info attribute specifics).
I have not found a way to view the 9 modules in X. I have gotten all the
modules to work. I installed all of them into the OS 9 help module using
the included install script, except "essential subroutines (version
0260)" which I installed to X (because it was described as specifically
for OS X).
I only got "essential subroutines (version 0260)" to install
successfully in X when I checked the option that said something like -
save for use by this user only.
To see the majority of the modules, I boot into 9. To see version 0260,
I make sure I am in the right user and view in X. That isn't the most
convenient solution, but in terms of convenience, it pales in comparison
to be very new and never sure if what you are reading is relevant to X.
I am not interested at this time in providing backwards compatibility,
so I would rather only learn that which is relevant to X. How much is
different? I would love to hear from an experienced scripter's point of
view as to the best way to learn in this transitional time.
Hope this helps,
Rolf

While that statement sure sounds promising, I'm having problems
accessing
the contents of said Guidebook in the Mac OS X Help Viewer.
I've managed to install all the modules manually, in
"~/Library/Documentation/Help/AppleScript Guidebook/", but when I try to
click any of the links, they don't seem to work... :(
Are there any remedies to make the content viewable in OS X, or is all
the
content of this guidebook outdated anyway? Any other good
online/downloadable sources for that fully covers the AppleScript
syntax and
can work as a replacement for these Guidebooks?
Cheers,
