Applet problem with AS 1.8.3

I may be regretting letting Software Update install AppleScript 1.8.3 on my
workstations last night. Now I have an applet that won't run anymore
"because of a scripting system (OSA) error" under Mac OS 9.1. But the script
runs fine if I open it up in Script Editor and bash the run button. Gently
nudging the run button probably works too but it was late and I was tired.
:-)

If I have jumped the gun by installing that update, is there an easy spot to
find an installer for a previous version of AppleScript? The Knowledge Base
was being most unforthcoming in finding any...
