[OS X] files which are packages look like folders and can't be moved

How does one stop aliases to OS X packages looking like folders
(i.e.: alias "OrangePref:OrangePref.prefPane:")??

The problem then is that you get -8067 errors when dealing with this as a
file because the name of the package is wrong (colon appended where it
shouldn't be).
