On 3/31/02, Phil Dobbin commented:
Whilst trying to find out why a certain script doesn't work in
Mailsmith 1.5, it was suggested that I activate the recording
feature in ScriptEditor, switch to Mailsmith and then perform a
couple of searches in a text window.
All went as expected until I tried to stop recording whereupon
ScriptEditor locked up and in the end I had to force quit. After a
log out/log in, I tried again but the same thing happened. It also
happens if I switch recording on from inside Mailsmith and from
other apps, so it seems to be a ScriptEditor issue.
I don't have OS X but I do have questions which may be the result of
responding on less than a full cup of coffee. ;-)
1. Does OS X's Script Editor (or is it ScriptEditor?) still have the
32k limit? If so...
2. Is it possible that your recorded script is hitting the limit?
Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is occurring? I believe
the Finder is non-recordable under OS X but does it extend to
everything else?
On my pre-OS X systems, switching to a non-recordable app while
recording would just result in nothing being added to the script.
It's never caused a lockup (if that's why you're asking).

Rob Jorgensen
