Greetings All,
I have bought and read several of the AppleScript resource books/material
out there (Danny Goodman's Handbook, AppleScript in a Nutshell, Bill Briggs
Scripting Pages from MacCentral, of course Apple's own AppleScript tutorial
site, plus a handful of other resources.
I've made some progress, but I still sometimes feel like the authors of
these things are assuming that their audiance(s) have some programming
background, which I don't. I'm a tech, and have always been. I've been being
asked more and more recently about various solution options that I know
could be implemented through AppleScript, but I have 2 sticking points that
I can't seem to break through:
1) I need to copy stuff from a server volume to a local folder (easy enough
to do), but at a specific time in the middle of the night (completely devoid
of resources for this, unless I'm totolly stupid). So, basically I need to
know how to make a script go off at a particular time.
2) How would I even BEGIN to go about creating a script that would find and
replace various unwanted items, such as double-spaces, those little (>>)
characters, usually found in emails, and/or create a (-) instead of (--).
Thanks very much for any help or pointing me in the right direction at all.
I heard about this site through Apple's ListServe.
Cheers to All,
Mike Galke
