OSX-Filesystem Snapshot?

Hello,
Does anyone know or have a sample script that will scan a OSX volume and create a snapshot?

I would like to take a snapshot of one of my old installers to see where the files are going. I lost the vct project file so I was hoping to take a snap shot of the file system and compare the two, to see the file additions.
