OS 9: I imagine that the best approach is to have a file of known size
which you download and/or upload to your target server. You can then
work out your average connection speed to that server. Of course this
may or may not be a fair indication as to the bandwidth your getting
from your provider (assuming that's what you're after).
With OS X you could follow the same route or you could grep the results
from CURL. Makes your life a little easier.
