Why would you forward mail that contains an attachment you didn't
expect? And to whom?

Sure, if you're running a mail server that legitimately relays mail from
outside to people with PCs, it makes a lot of sense to run a virus check
on mail as it arrives and delete offending messages with extreme
prejudice.

If your server only ever sees messages intended for macs, you'd either
have to have a mac virus or a criminally stupid user to infect anyone.
