Files and Aliases under OS 9.2 & AS 1.7

So, I have created the world's most perfect AppleScript, only to discover
that my client can't get it to work because he's running AppleScript 1.7,
(under system 9.2).

What the heck is going on? Aliases and Finder references won't coerce
back and forth, something goofy is going on with the Finder's "sort"
command, and "list folder" is returning styled text, which is breaking
every script I have.

OK, I'm not really asking a question, I'm just ranting!!!

If any others have become victims of AppleScript 1.7 and would also
like to rant, I encourage you to do so.

:(
